Andrea K. Herrera, MD
Dr. Herrera grew up in Hesston, KS, and as a student at McPherson College discovered how a career in medicine could satisfy her desire to help people. She went on to medical school at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City and Wichita, then residency at the University of Texas Health Center at Tyler. After completing residency, Dr. Herrera began practicing at Russell Regional Hospital in Russell, KS. Three years later, in 2011, she and her family moved to McPherson to be closer to her husband’s work.
Since stating her career in medicine, Dr. Herrera has seen patients struggling to afford their healthcare. She has opened Great Plains Family Medicine to bring quality, affordable healthcare to McPherson. Her passions are delivering this care to adults and children, saving people money, and being more flexible to spend time with her husband and three children. When she‘s not darting between her kids’ activities, Dr. Herrera also enjoys reading and her morning walks.
Susan Morris, DNP, APRN, FNP-C
Family Medicine Yoder Office
Susan grew up in Hutchinson, KS and knew from an early age that she wanted a career in healthcare. Nursing became the clearest path, and she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Bethel College in 2013. Realizing the additional benefits that could be provided to patients through advanced practice, she went back to Wichita State University for graduate school, graduating with her Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2018.
Most of her healthcare career (Medical, Critical Care, and Emergency) has been in the Newton area, and Susan and her family relocated to Buhler in 2017. Throughout her clinical experience, she saw patients struggling to take ownership of their own healthcare and lacking the time or resources to practice good preventative health behaviors. Susan joined Great Plains Family Medicine to be able to truly partner with patients in their healthcare and to help them meet the goals that they want to meet. Susan enjoys doing children’s ministry at her church and spending time with her husband and kids.
